These terms are the agreement between you and HoodShare for the website at hoodshare.codecrox.com, the app that runs there, and the HoodShare app for Android. Using the service means accepting them. If you do not, please do not use it.
HoodShare introduces neighbours to each other's things. It is a noticeboard and a way of asking.
HoodShare is not a party to anything you lend or borrow. Every arrangement is directly between the two households. We do not own, inspect, test, insure, deliver, or guarantee any item, and we are not responsible for its condition, its safety, or whether it comes back.
We do not vet our members. Verifying that an address is real, that a person is who they say they are, or that a ladder is safe to stand on, is not something this service does. Use the judgement you would use lending to anyone else on your street.
A household is shared. Anyone who lives there can list and manage its items, see requests made of it, and invite others in. Invite only people who actually live with you — an invitation gives its holder your address and everything the household shares.
If you delete your account and other people are still members of your household, the household and its items stay with them. Deleting your account removes you, not them.
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. You may not use HoodShare to:
If you see a listing, a message or a member that breaks these rules, email hoodshare@codecrox.com with enough detail to find it. We review every report, normally within 24 hours.
We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts for breaking these rules, and we will do so without warning where the breach is serious. If someone is in danger, contact the police first — we are not an emergency service.
Child sexual abuse and exploitation is handled separately and absolutely: see our child safety standards for what is prohibited, how to report it, and what we do when it is reported.
What you post stays yours. You give HoodShare permission to store it and to show it to the neighbours you have chosen to show it to, which is only what is needed to run the service. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
You confirm that what you post is yours to post, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app, under Account. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we are required to. If we close yours and it is not because of something you did, we will tell you why.
HoodShare is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be available without interruption, free of faults, or that anything listed will still be there when you ask for it. We may change or withdraw features.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, HoodShare is not liable for loss or damage arising from an arrangement between members — including damage to a borrowed item, injury from using one, or an item not being returned — nor for indirect or consequential loss.
If you have a dispute with another member, it is between you and them.
If these terms change materially, the date at the top changes and we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use HoodShare after that means accepting the new terms.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, this does not take away the protection of your local consumer law.
